Although I don't think they're as great as some magazines are proclaiming, I think they are a really fun group. They're pretty interesting because they have incorporated alot of different styles together to make their own little style of indie rock, a style I can envision being ripped off very soon now. Although they owe quite a bit to the Talking Heads and Peter Gabriel, they never sound old or recycled. I think I like them a little bit because they seem to be the one new indie rock band out there that I don't hear a Strokes influence in, at all... Not that I dislike the Strokes. I love them, in fact. It just seems that 9 out of every 10 new indie bands somehow sound a bit like them and it gets old. Kinda like how every new British band seems to sound a bit like the Libertines. Hey, at least they're emulating good bands and not Nickelback, right? Well, if you haven't heard Vampire Weekend, I'd urge you to check them out now. Get some peeps together, throw on their record, and shake it. If you have heard em, what do you think?

im a fan of this band
I love this band, I think they are hilarious... The first song I heard was Oxford Comma and I thought they were a parody group making fun of Lil Jon. haha
Only thing that sucks is that now they're on MTV and that's just annoying... all of their indie fans are going to frown upon that and all Top Pop fans are going to spoil it for the rest of us... by acting like they were HUGE VW fans from the very start. I loathe those wankers. Oh well, still a good band and I would say they also owe it to Paul Simon a lil bit.
I still havent listened to them.
Anyone see them on SNL last night? They were good. I thought it was funny that they were dressed all nice in sweaters and collared shirts.
yah they always look all preppy now.
when they're on the MTV commercials they are dressed in sweaters & collared shirts too.
well
I think they're a preppy group...
I mean, they didn't change or anything
yeah, that's their style i guess. they've always been 'preppy'-type dressers, so i think that's just them being themselves and not so much an act.
while i think it's cool that they're getting exposure (over the usual lame/horrible bands on mtv), i just don't want their group to change/sell-out or for their shows to be over-crowded with dousche-bags. That could spoil the show for me. Which is why it's a DEFINITE to see them on this first tour before they end up going lame on us, or playing in a bigger venue full of dousche-nozzles on the next tour.
Haha... Eli said dousche-nozzle.
Haha. Ive been listening to them lately and i really like them. I havent gotten into a band like them since kevin introduced me to wilco and ryan adams last summer.
Now that ive been listening to them a lot, they remind me a bit of the shins.
